Looking to In 2018

We have completed our commitments to Sunshine Kids and in 2018 we will focus our Morgan Gives Back Efforts on Building The Halo House. The Halo House is not only an important project for Morgan, but also for the City of Houston. In 2016, the Texas Medical Center (TMC) had over 30,000 patient visits from people battling leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma. During treatment for these types of cancer, patients often must be immediately accessible (less than 15 minutes) to their treatment facility. For patients not from Houston, this expense can literally bankrupt them. The New Halo House facility will host families for a little as $20 per night. The 42,000 sq. ft. Halo House will include 33 apartments for patients and families, a small fitness center where patients and caregivers can exercise and still be just a minute away from their loved ones, and plenty of peaceful green space. MORGAN will manage the construction of this beautiful facility.

Thank you for all that you give back! WE ARE MORGAN STRONG!

In 2017 our Morgan Gives Back program was tremendously successful in helping so many. We participated in the following Programs/Events:

  •    • Sunshine Kids
  •    • The Morgan Employee Relief Fund
  •    • The Morgan Employee Relief Holiday Gifts
  •    • Operation Backpack
  •    • Buffalo Bayou Regatta

Sunshine Kids (led by Leah Perez)

The Sunshine Foundation's purpose is to answer the dreams of chronically ill, seriously ill, physically challenged and abused children ages three to eighteen, whose families cannot fulfill their requests due to financial strain that the child's illness may cause.

We hosted the Summer Bash 2.0 (picnic) for the Sunshine Kids families: This included a huge water-balloon and water-gun themed party for 180+ kids. We had a rock-wall, a Naascar racing table, blow-up a waterslide, bounce house, finger-painting and face-painting station

We installed outdoor improvements for the Sunshine Kids' property as follows:

  i. Demolished the wood deck and tree-stump preventing a useful entrance at the photo booth doors.

ii. Reconstructed a concrete patio for wheel chairs to enter the photo booth room.

iii. Removed and replaced tattered pavers at the entrance of the property.

iv. Replaced old accessories (new swings, slides, and ladders), refinished the wood, and reinforced weakened areas of the playset.

  v. Removed the old BBQ grill and re-built the insert and surround for the new BBQ grill ($5,000+ donation)

vi. Added stair nose lighting, updated pole lighting and tree lighting.

vii. Installed AV equipment for outdoor movie nights ($1,400 improvement).

We volunteered at the Paint-A-Pumpkin party we provided samples for the kids to draw inspiration from, and we worked each of the stations for the party.
Christmas 2017 We contributed $400 to a Sunshine Kids family severely affected by Harvey.

To fund all of this, Morgan Group employees raised $3,715 in the company-wide raffle we held in August and another $2,196.87 throughout the Super Bowl and Jeans Monday fundraisers. Our supportive property vendors also donated $1,500.

The Morgan Employee Relief Holiday Gifts. (Led By Karen Prien)

We went and bought gifts with employee donations to assure that the Morgan children that were affected by Harvey had Christmas gifts to open on Christmas. We had a wrapping party and in just a little over a week we had everything ready.

Operation Backpack (Led By Karen Prien) Team Morgan donated 88 filled backpacks with donations from employees. By getting backpacks and filling them with school supplier we benefit underprivileged students whose parents cannot afford the materials the students need to start school. Operation Backpack is sponsored by YMCA.

Buffalo Bayou Regatta (led by Helena Finley) Each year team Morgan enters the Corporate Challenge at Buffalo Bayou Partnership Regatta. This event has been held in Houston for the past 46 years and benefits the Buffalo Bayou Partnership (BBP). The BBP focuses on the 10-mile stretch of Buffalo Bayou from Shepherd Drive to the Port of Houston Turning Basin with award-winning projects such as Sabine Promenade and Sesquicentennial Park, protecting land for future parks, constructing hike and bike trails, and operating comprehensive clean-up and maintenance programs.
