Michael Morgan

Michael S. Morgan — Chairman & CEO

As Chief Executive, Michael S. Morgan is responsible for strategic planning, risk management, investment decisions and product development. His strategy of selecting the most talented professionals in the business, geographic diversification and conservative financial structure has led the company to successfully develop properties in eight states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Tennessee and Texas. Since 1989, the Houston-based firm has developed more than 18,000 units, with a cost of more than $2.1 billion.

In conjunction with his day-to-day duties, Michael serves on the Board of Trustees for the Kinkaid School and the Holocaust Museum Houston as well as the Advisory Board for Casa de Esperanza. He was also the past Chairman of The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Houston. He is active professionally on the Board of Directors for the National Multi Housing Council (NMHC) and is a member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI). He is a past executive committee member of the Houston Chapter of the Young President's Organization (YPO) and a current member the World President's Organization (WPO) and Chief Executives Organization (CEO).

Michael holds a BBS with a major in real estate and construction management from the University of Denver.

Alan Patton

Alan Patton — President

Alan Patton, serves as President of The Morgan Group, Inc. Alan's responsibilities include day-to-day management of the company including development and construction. Under Alan's leadership, Morgan has developed over 16,000 units at a cost of more than $2.0 billion.

Alan was a Senior Managing Director and started the national multifamily platform at Hines. He also helped create Urban Oaks Builders, a general contractor, to handle construction related activities for the multifamily platform at Hines.

Alan was the managing director of the Chase Bank of Texas Realty Advisory Group. During his eight-year tenure, he developed and managed Chase's Real Estate Mezzanine Financing product, worked in the Real Estate Workout/Restructing Group, and the Commercial Real Estate Lending Group. he began his career at Miner-Dederick, a Houston-based high rise contractor, where he was a project manager, estimator, and field superintendent. Alan was Chairman of the Board of Directors of Monogram Residential Trust (a NYSE company "MORE") until its sale to Greystar in 2017. He is on the Board of the National Multi Housing Council and a council member of the Urban Land Institue. He has an MBA and BS Finance from the University of Houston - Clear Lake.

Stan Levy

Stan Levy — Chief Operating Officer

Stan Levy serves as Chief Operating Officer of MORGAN. Stan's responsibilities include arranging debt and equity financing, managing the property acquisition and disposition process, and asset management oversight for all of MORGAN's assets. Stan has closed over $1.5 billion of transactions for MORGAN.

Stan was one of the founding executive officers of Cadence Bancorp LLC, where he was integrally involved in a start up that raised $1 billion in equity and subsequently acquired three banks totaling $5.5 billion in assets across a six state region. Stan began his career at JPMorgan Chase & Co., where he worked for 15 years and served as Managing Director of Real Estate & Lodging Investment Banking for the Southern Region.

Stan graduated with honors from The University of Texas with a BBA in Finance. Stan serves as a director of Hines Real Estate Investment Trust, Inc., advisory director of Cadence Bancorp LLC, and board member for Congregation Beth Israel. Stan is a Past President of the Board of The Shlenker School in Houston. He is an active member of the National Multi Housing Council.

Brian Hebert

Paulina Marvan — Senior Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer

Paulina Marvan is responsible for all aspects of MORGAN's Accounting and Administration duties. Prior to joining MORGAN in June of 2015, Paulina worked for IDI-Gazeley (formerly Verde Realty) for 11 years, she was VP/Controller overseeing the reporting, property, development and corporate accounting groups in the US and Mexico.

Paulina has 20+ years of accounting experience in several real estate industries, including internal audit experience at Security Capital Group.

Paulina has a B.S. and M.S. in Accounting, both from the University of Central Florida. She has been a licensed CPA in the state of TX since 2000.

Michael Born

Michael Born — Senior Vice President of Construction

As Senior Vice President of Construction, Michael is responsible for the day to day construction operations of all new development projects across the country. Since joining MORGAN in 2006, Michael has been responsible for the construction of 2,200 units at a total loan value of $340 million in Texas, North Carolina and Missouri.

Prior to joining MORGAN, Michael was part of the construction/development team on a Master Planned Development in North Miami, designed for 6,400 units totaling $5 billion for SwerdlowBoca Developers, where he completed new townhome concept planning and construction of high-rise condominiums. Michael started his career with one of the leading single family home builders in the country, Toll Brothers, Inc., working on construction/development on Toll Brothers first Active Adult Master Planned Community in Haymarket, VA., consisting of single family, townhome, midrise and mixed use concepts.

Michael attended Texas A&M University where he earned his BA in Construction Science and a Minor in Business. He also was a walk on fullback under head coach R. C. Slocum. Michael holds his General Contractor's Licenses in Florida and California.

Rosalind McLeroy

Rosalind McLeroy — Senior Vice President and General Counsel

Rosalind McLeroy joined MORGAN as General Counsel in 1997. Prior to her arrival at MORGAN, Rosalind was an Associate with the Houston law firm Baker Botts, L.L.P., specializing in commercial real estate. While at Baker Botts, Rosalind represented both lenders and developers in all aspects of transactional real estate, including acquisitions, sales, project financing, design and development, construction and leasing.

Rosalind is responsible for addressing legal issues that come up in the day-to-day operations of the company. She also handles all of the company's transactional real estate matters, ranging from subcontractor negotiations to multi-million dollar project financings.

Rosalind graduated in 1985 from Louisiana State University in Shreveport with a BS degree, summa cum laude, in economics. She received her JD, with honors, from the University of Houston Law School in 1988.

Rosalind McLeroy

Shelley Watson — Senior Vice President, National Property Management

Shelley Watson serves as the Senior Vice President of National Property Management and is responsible for property operations and management for the company. Prior to joining The Morgan Group, Shelley was a Managing Director with Greystar in Austin, Texas where she worked for 6 years and was responsible for 12,000 units. Experienced in conventional, value add renovations, senior housing , repositions, and new construction lease ups with direct supervision of over 30 lease ups in Texas. 

Shelley has over 20 years of multi-family experience, including supervision of 3rd party assets with Riverstone and Alliance. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from the University of Louisiana – Monroe, is a Certified Apartment Manager through the National Apartment Association, was an active member of the Austin Apartment Association Supervisor's Council and is a member of CREW Houston.

Philip Morgan

Philip Morgan — Senior Vice President, Development

Philip pursues new development and investment opportunities for MORGAN in Texas and oversees MORGAN's California office. Philip also serves on the management committee and participates in strategic planning, risk management and asset management..

Since joining MORGAN, Philip has been involved in the development of over 4,500 units at a cost exceeding $1B in Texas, California and Florida. Prior to joining MORGAN, Philip co-founded BlueRoot Partners to take advantage of opportunities acquiring distressed real estate assets in Texas. His experience also includes evaluating real estate debt investment opportunities while at CBRE Capital Partners in New York and assessing student housing development opportunities while at Campus Living Villages.

Philip holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from The Wharton School at The University of Pennsylvania. Philip is an active member of ULI Young Leader's Group, is actively involved in Big Brothers Big Sisters Texas and serves on the Kinkaid Young Professional's Board.

Evan Schlecker

Evan Schlecker — Regional Vice President, Development

Evan focuses on development in the Southeast. Evan's responsibilities include sourcing new opportunities and managing every stage of the development process.

Since joining MORGAN, Evan has been involved in the development of over 2,000 units at a cost of $340 million in Texas and Florida. Prior to joining MORGAN, Evan co-founded BlueRoot Partners to take advantage of opportunities acquiring distressed real estate assets in Texas. Evan began his career at Torchlight Investors (f/k/a ING Clarion) restructuring non-performing commercial real estate.

Evan holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from The Wharton School at The University of Pennsylvania with concentrations in real estate and finance. Evan is an accredited LEED professional, licensed NY real estate salesperson, and a member of the Urban Land Institute.

Kamil Salame

Kamil Salame — City Partner, Central Florida

Kamil is responsible for development efforts in Central Florida, including sourcing new opportunities and overseeing all aspects of the development process.

Since joining MORGAN, Kamil has been involved in the development of over 1,000 units at a cost of $330 million. Prior to joining MORGAN, Kamil served as an Associate with The Kislak Organization, a Miami-based real estate investment firm, where he focused on the sourcing, acquisition and disposition of opportunistic, value-add and development multifamily investments, totaling over 3,400 units across the U.S.

Kamil graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Real Estate and Finance and is a member of the Urban Land Institute.

Richard A. Buck

Richard A. Buck — Vice President, Development

Richard, a veteran real estate developer, has served in various leadership roles with nationally recognized multifamily developers the likes of Post Properties, Colonial Properties Trust, Altman Development and Crescent Resources LLC. Throughout his 18 plus years of service in the construction management and development industry, Richard has provided leadership to the acquisition, design, entitlement, construction and/or development of over 6,000 multifamily units and 1,500 single family lots, across four states.

Richard now leads the Southeast development team for MORGAN with a regional office in Fort Lauderdale. He and his team are currently focused on sourcing and developing high end luxury infill projects in Florida and the Carolinas. Mr. Buck served in the United States military, honorably discharged as a 1LT Infantry Officer assigned to A Co/1st Bn/ 20th Special Forces Group (Airborne) after 11 years with the USAR and ALANG.

Richard holds a BS degree in Construction Management from Auburn University. He and his wife of 20 years, Kristy, along with their six children live in Palm City, Florida where he serves as Deacon at Grace Presbyterian Church (PCA).

Brian Gilchrist

Brian Gilchrist — Vice President, Development

As Vice President of Development in southern California, Brian is responsible for all aspects of the development process in the region, including sourcing new investment opportunities, planning and design.

Prior to joining MORGAN in June 2016, Brian was responsible for all development activities in Los Angeles for UDR, Inc. (NYSE:UDR), including the design and execution of three high-rise apartment projects with a total investment of over $350 million. Brian was born and raised in southern California and started his career with Webcor Builders before joining John Laing Homes Urban on the development team with a focus on entitlements in the City of Los Angeles. He then spent 6 years at Archstone as Assistant Vice President of development where he sourced, designed and managed the execution of numerous projects from ground-up construction to substantial renovation projects encompassing all product-types with a total investment of approximately $250 million.

Brian attended Whittier College where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. He is a member of the Urban Land Institute and lives with his wife and three daughters in Orange County, CA.

Chris McGhee

Chris McGhee —  Vice President, Asset & Risk Management

Chris oversees the financial performance of MORGAN’s real estate assets and is responsible for placing insurance across all of MORGAN’S operations and projects as well as administering MORGAN’s vendor compliance program.

Chris began his career in real estate as a commercial office leasing representative in 2005 before transitioning into loan servicing and asset management with HFF, LP.

Chris holds an M.S. in Land Development degree from Texas A&M Universty and earned his undergraduate degree from Texas State Universty.

Jock Naponic

Jock Naponic —  Vice President of Investments

Jock's primary responsibilities include acquisitions, capital markets, and asset management of MORGAN's existing portfolio.

Jock Naponic previously served as Executive Vice President of Originations with Bank of the Ozarks Real Estate Specialties Group, which focused on providing construction and bridge lending facilities for commercial real estate projects. During his five-year tenure with the bank, Mr. Naponic opened and managed the bank's Houston Loan Production Office and was integrally involved in the origination and financing of over $1BN in commercial real estate projects. Jock began his career at Bank of America in their real estate structured finance group, where he worked as both a commercial real estate underwriter and CMBS originations analyst.

Jock graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a BBA in Finance and Accounting and received his MBA from Southern Methodist University.

Jock Naponic

Karen Thomas — Vice President of Human Resources

Karen Thomas serves as the Vice President of Human Resources for the company. Karen has been in the multi-family real estate business for over 25 years, where she spent eighteen years as Vice President of Human Resources for The Hanover Company, and two years at Allen Harrison Company as the Chief Operating Officer. Prior to joining MORGAN, Karen was Managing Partner at DFL & Associates, a recruiting firm, where she specialized in placing top talent for large real estate companies throughout the US.

Karen’s passion is in helping people and identifying individual strengths to assist both the company and the employees to achieve success. A great company culture with strong core values are very important to Karen, and she has found that at MORGAN. Karen holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management and is a member of the Society for Human Resource Professionals.
